Protecting Every Child, Empowering Every Voice
At the heart of CALDEV’s mission lies an unwavering commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and well-being of children across Africa. Our Child Rights Advocacy Program is designed to raise awareness, influence policy, and mobilize communities to uphold and defend the fundamental rights of every child—regardless of their background, ability, or socio-economic status.
We believe that children are not just passive recipients of care, but active rights-holders whose voices must be heard and respected. Through this program, CALDEV promotes a society where every child is safe, seen, valued, and empowered to live a full and free life.
Core Objectives:
- To promote awareness and understanding of children’s rights as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child
- To equip children with the knowledge and confidence to understand and speak up for their rights
- To engage policymakers, institutions, and community leaders in creating child-friendly laws, environments, and support systems
- To challenge harmful cultural practices, abuses, and systemic neglect that put children at risk
- To offer platforms for child participation in decision-making at local, regional, and national levels

CALDEV applies a rights-based, child-centered approach in everything we do—ensuring that every child is not only protected from harm but empowered to thrive. We work across urban and rural communities, leveraging grassroots networks and institutional partnerships to create lasting impact.
We believe that advocacy must be inclusive, persistent, and bold, and we are proud to walk alongside children as they claim their rightful place in society—as protected, prepared, and empowered citizens of tomorrow.
